Another job completed successfully from the Bartech Propulsion team on a Damen Multicat vessel,  whilst docked in Portchester, Hampshire in the UK.

The original work scope was to change a Dewaal seal as part of maintenance schedule, but in removing the old seal, it was found that the aft stern tube bearing was badly damaged due to a heavily bent propellor.

Further damage was found on the stern tube and to repair this would mean a standard bearing could no longer be used.

To overcome this damage, we worked with the ship yard to arrange in site line boring on the tube to remove the scoring and damage.

Working with the vessel manufacturer and specialist manufacturer we designed and produced a replacement bearing to accommodate the new shaft dimensions and all this over a Bank Holiday weekend.

Despite these challenges, we completed the repairs and seal change with only one extra day added to the original docking plan.

After the successful work scope on this vessel, it was nice to receive this feedback from the Marine Superintendent:

I am writing this letter of recommendation to you for the excellent services of your company, Bartech Propulsion, who we employed for a seal change on our vessel who was in dry dock in Portchester in September 2021.

I am confident about the services of Bartech Propulsion who I found to be reliable and thoroughly professional throughout the ships dry dock.

Bartech Propulsion went over and above the work scope provided to you and executed the work in a timely and competent manner.

We look forward to working with Bartech Propulsion in the future for our vessel needs.
